PAD Project
The Richmond Ambulance Authority participates in the Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) Trial, a massive national study to evaluate the effectiveness of placing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at strategic points in the public arena and training the lay public how to use them in cases of cardiac arrest.
Richmond is one of about 20 cities nationwide participating in this multi-million study funded by the National Institute of Health. RAA helped identify appropriate sites for placement of AEDs and inclusion into the study by evaluating their cardiac arrest data with spatial analysis techniques acquired through the Bonn Project.
