EMS Benchmarking

The Richmond Ambulance Authority participates in a collaborative quality improvement process known as "EMS benchmarking". With other advanced EMS systems of similar design (NAAPUM—North American Association of Public Utility Models), RAA collects and compares clinical and financial data, looking to identify and promote the "best practices" within the EMS industry.

The combined scope of patient contacts represented by the members of NAAPUM presents a huge opportunity for research and collaboration on behalf of the ambulance industry. The executive directors and medical directors of these systems have enthusiastically supported these kinds of efforts will likely place a major role in the shaping of EMS future in North America.
